We bought a house!

We bought a house this week and are so excited to get working on it! I will probably be posting a lot of before and after pictures of all the projects we will be doing. We are still living at our apartment through the end of the month, so we are trying to do a bunch of stuff before we move in. This is week one at the house- take out plants, put in french drains, do grading around the house, and (bonus project) pull off that ironwork!

Welcome home!

These three lilac bushes were causing issues, so they had to come out. The one on the far left took FOREVER!

Working on those trees.
All the lilacs.

Craig, Ryan, and Ryan dug trenches for french drains on the 4th of July. So thankful for their help!

Here is part of the french drain.

Kent, Owen, and I left the trenches to the guys and started working on the grading. Kent is saying, "Go. Go." They were good at cheering me on up the hill.

Owen loved the dirt pile.

We added some retaining walls.

Finished drain and retaining wall.

No trees! No water problems!

Just like new (once the grass grows in)

We weren't going to take down the ironwork this week, but we were already borrowing our friends truck to get rid of all the lilacs, so we decided to just get it done. Here is the house without. We still have to do shutters, posts, or something to the front, but it is so much better!
Craig took the a drill and angle grinder to the ironwork and we got it off pretty quick. He took it to the scrap yard. It was 600 lbs! So we got a whopping $36. That's a win win situation, but the best part is what happened at the scrap yard. One of the guys in front of Craig at the yard was scrapping an old table saw that he had. Craig asked him if it worked and if he was just going to throw it away. The guy said yes, so Craig asked if he could have it. The scrapyard was going to give $6 for the saw, so the guy offered it to Craig for $10. A very beneficial trip to the scrap yard - we netted $26 and a Craftsman table saw!

They love our green house:)
